From little things big things grow

Students tried a range of traditional and modern foods.

On Tuesday all of our students, from Prep to Year Six, were a part of a special reconciliation and growth event.

Students learned about and tasted a range of traditional and modern indigenous cuisine under the guidance of Executive Chef and Elder Dale Chapman from the First Food Co. They also learned about the modern and traditional uses of certain native plants with Kerry Jones and Sean Fleischfresser from the Bunya Bunya Aboriginal Corporation. This information will be incorporated into the design and planting of our own bush tucker garden in Term Two (when the rains clear up a little!)

This experience was funded through the Reconciliation in Queensland Schools (RIQS) program. This program is an initiative within the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Reconciliation Action Plan and has been designed to leave a Legacy of reconciliation in Queensland Schools.
