Throughout each term at Bli Bli State School we encourage our students to attend a variety of clubs. One of our newest clubs is STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
STEM education is important as students develop creative and critical thinking skills within a supportive environment.
Using engineering challenges students solve everyday problems and reflect to improve on their designs each session.
We have seen some incredible work from our STEM Club students and their critical and creative thinking skills are developing each day.
Students use a variety of OZOBOT robots, Makey Makeys, Scratch coding and a drone to develop their use of technology while also solving problems in small groups and individually. We encourage them to work in teams to develop communication skills and cohesive teams within the club.
We have been using these resources in our STEM club and are about to take them into the classrooms. STEM is a way of the future and is just developing at Bli Bli State School.
Over the next few years you will see major growth in the areas of technology. With the development of the Design Technologies in the Australian Curriculum the technology resources used to teach the students will become an everyday occurrence in all Australian classrooms.
