At Bli Bli State School, learning extends far beyond the classroom. We are proud to offer a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities that allow students to explore their interests, develop confidence, build friendships and discover their strengths.
Our extra-curricular programs play an important role in fostering creativity, teamwork, leadership, resilience and a strong sense of belonging within our school community.
A Connected School Community
At Bli Bli State School, we value the importance of connection, participation and belonging. Our extra-curricular opportunities help students build confidence, strengthen friendships and develop the skills and dispositions needed to thrive both within and beyond school.
Choir
- Senior Choir (Years 4 - 6)
- Junior Choir (Years 2 and 3)
Choir is open to anyone who likes to sing. We perform at multiple venues throughout the year but the highlights are:
- Anzac Day
- Eisteddfod
- November Notes
- Nursing home and retirement village visits
Small Vocal Groups
We have 4 small vocal groups. This is an extension program to choir and students must participate in choir to be eligible. Students audition at the start of the year to be a part of the small vocal group program.
- Belle Voce (Year 5 and 6 girls)
- Canto Bello (Year 4, 5 and 6 girls)
- Piccolos (Year 3 and 4 girls)
- Rebel Clefs (Years 4 - 6 boys)
Musical
This is a bi-annual event. We write our own musicals and they are unique to us at Bli Bli. The aim is to give as many students as possible in Years 3 - 6 a chance to shine on stage in singing, acting, specialist dance, chorus. Our last show in 2025 'Turn Up The Music' was a resounding success to sold out performances over two nights.
Afternoon of the Arts
A bi-annual event in a non-musical year. This is a festival with multiple performance stages and food vans. All performing groups, choral, instrumental and drama are involved.
Extension Drama
Extension Drama is offered to students in Years 4 and 5 who have an interest in acting. We perform at 'Afternoon of the Arts' (this year 125th Festival) and present Christmas plays to lower school students in term 4.
Instrumental Music
Concert Band - students may learn a instrument brass, wind or percussion, from Year 4. This is a curriculum subject. Students attend lessons and ensemble rehearsals once a week. They are assessed and reported on.
String Orchestra - students may learn violin, viola, cello or double bass from Year 3. This is a curriculum subject. Students attend lessons and ensemble rehearsals once a week. They are assessed and reported on.
Concert Band and String Orchestra are involved in a number of performances throughout the year. Highlights include

Guitar - students may learn in a small group setting with a private guitar teacher. They attend weekly lessons. Guitar students perform in our school concerts and lunchtime concerts throughout the year.
Student Leadership Opportunities
We believe all students have the capacity to lead and contribute positively to our school community.
Students in Year 6 are provided with a range of leadership opportunities and are encouraged to model our school values of Community, Commitment, Creativity and Character. Leadership positions include:
- School Captain
- Sports House Captain
- Music Captain
- Prefect
Students in Years 4 to 6 may also apply to become Class Representatives and participate in the Student Council. Through these opportunities, students develop important leadership, communication and teamwork skills while helping to shape school initiatives and events.
Year 4 students can also apply to become Library Monitors, supporting younger students and promoting a love of reading across the school.
Kids Clubs
Our school offers a vibrant range of special interest clubs, thoughtfully run by our dedicated and passionate staff. These clubs provide wonderful opportunities for children to explore their interests, build confidence, and connect with peers in a supportive, welcoming and inclusive environment.
Students can choose to attend clubs regularly or simply join in occasionally, allowing flexibility to suit each child’s interests and commitments. Offerings may include Chess Club, Drama Club, Dance Club, Garden Club, Craft Club, and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Club.
A wide range of clubs are offered during both break times, providing children with valuable opportunities to extend their learning, discover new talents, and enjoy being actively involved in our school community.
