Bli Bli State School values and respects the diversity of beliefs, cultures and backgrounds represented within our school community.
Under the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006, Queensland state schools are required to provide Religious Instruction (RI) when approached by an approved faith group and where students of that faith attend the school.
Religious Instruction provides students with information about the beliefs, values and practices of a particular faith tradition. RI is delivered by authorised volunteers from approved faith groups using materials approved by those groups and in accordance with Queensland Government legislation and Department of Education policies and procedures.
All Religious Instruction volunteers:
- hold a current Blue Card
- complete mandatory Student Protection training
- complete Code of Conduct training
- deliver only the approved Religious Instruction program
A member of the school staff is present while Religious Instruction is being delivered.
Participation in Religious Instruction
Participation in Religious Instruction is voluntary.
Parents/carers may indicate their preference for their child's participation when completing the Application for Student Enrolment form or by providing written advice to the school at any time.
This preference remains in place unless the school is advised otherwise in writing.
Religious Instruction Available at Bli Bli State School
Christian Religious Instruction
The Religious Instruction program currently offered at Bli Bli State School is Christian Religious Instruction (Christian RI).
The program is delivered by authorised volunteers and generally consists of lessons of up to 30 minutes each week throughout the school year.

Parents will be advised if any contribution is requested by the provider to support the cost of program materials.
Alternative Supervised Activities
Students who do not participate in Religious Instruction are provided with alternative supervised activities in a separate location.
These activities relate to learning that has already been covered in class and may include:
- independent reading
- literacy and numeracy revision activities
- personal research tasks
- creative writing
- other curriculum-related learning activities
These activities do not introduce new curriculum content.
