Our school council, with balanced representation of parents, staff and the community, provides a sounding board and approval body for Bli Bli State School’s strategic direction.
As an Independent Public School (IPS) we must maintain a school council. Independent Public Schools, of which there are only 250 out of 1300 state schools, have a proven track record of assuming greater autonomy as a leader in education in their communities.
Bli Bli State School values strong consultative practices within the school and wider community. The school council interrogates strategic decisions encapsulated in planning documents such as the Annual Implementation Plan, 4 Year Strategic Plan and the Investing for Success plan, all aimed at improving student learning outcomes.
Membership of the IPS initiative also acknowledges our school’s continuous academic improvement across a sustained period of time.
A key component of our IPS status is seen in links with the Sunshine Coast Environmental Education Centre and opportunities and enrichment work that incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics (STEAM).
